About Bill

My wife, Chris, and I moved to Tybee 27 years ago.  According to some, we’re still newcomers, but we feel like this is our home.  I had been visiting Tybee since the early ‘80s since I often traveled to Union Camp’s woodlands headquarters in Savannah. I often stayed at the Econo Lodge on Tybee.  It was beachfront and laid back.

Chris and I have been married for 52 years. I couldn’t have been more fortunate to have found such a wonderful person in the jungles of Guatemala.  We have two sons who live in Atlanta.

Experience

For over 30 years I worked as a research forester in forest productivity at the University of Florida, Union Camp and International Paper. I know how to analyze information.

I have been active in Tybee City government since 2008 serving on Planning Commission 2 years, City Council 8 years, as well as participation in Better Hometown/Downtown Development Authority, Tybee Island Historical Society, Tybee Marine Science Center, Friends of Cockspur, Tybee Beautification Association and other groups over the years. My wife and I deliver Meals on Wheels twice a week in Savannah and on Tybee.

Before all of the above, I was a Peace Corps volunteer in Guatemala, working on a fisheries development project and taught Biology and Marine Science at Key West High School.
